National Informatics Centre (NIC), Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, Govt. of India is providing network backbone and e-Governance support to Central Government, State Governments, UT Administrations, Districts and other Government bodies It offers a wide range of ICT services including Nationwide Communication Network for decentralised planning, improvement in Government services and wider transparency of national and local Governments. NIC assists in implementing Information Technology Projects, in close collaboration with Central and State Governments, in the areas of

(a) Centrally sponsored schemes and Central sector schemes,

(b) State sector and State sponsored projects, and

(c) District Administration sponsored projects.

(d) Providing high speed, secured Network Services to Govt. Departments.

NIC endeavours to ensure that the latest technology in all areas of IT is available to its users.

The Department is equipped with the state of the art infrastructure for implementing ICT (Information and Communication Technology) in the district. NIC is providing internet services to Deputy Commissioner, magistrate chambers, Main Conference Hall,  Election Branch, all other branches of the District Administration and also, District & Session Court. NIC, Morigaon has extended Net connectivity to few other outside offices also, like PHE , SP office, Sub-registrar's office and Circle offices through dedicated Leased Line. Recently DTO, District Jail and District & Session Court has been connected through RF Technology. As an initiative of e-governance, Govenment has introduced various ICT Projects through NIC for which Constant Tehcnical Support has been provided to various State & Central Govt. Department to implement  the ICT Projetcs. 

NIC is providing state of the art Video Conferencing solution for Deputy Commissioner and various Central & State Govt. Departments, APDCL, etc. Separate VC System has been installed at District & Session Judge, SP office, etc.

NIC plays a very important role in various Elecions such as Parliamentary, Assembly, Panchayat, etc. by providing various ICT Solutions such as Webcasting, Randomization processes, Counting, etc. 

Training on ICT to various department is being provided by NIC at regular interval and on request. Weblearning sessions has also been conducted for few of the departments.
