About Krishi Vigyan Kendra Morigaon:
Krishi Vigyan Kendra is an agricultural extension centre created by Indian Council for Agricultural Research (ICAR) and its affiliated institutions at the district level to provide various types of farm support to the agricultural sector. KVK Morigaon is functioning as Knowledge and Resource Centres of agriculture and allied technology supporting initiatives of public, private & voluntary sectors for improving the agricultural economy of the districts.
Key Functions and Activities:
I. Technology Assessment and Refinement: Assessment of location-specificity of technologies of agriculture, veterinary and fishery sector under different farming systems and refine them for optimal results.
2. Front Line Demonstrations: Demonstrations of improved technologies of agriculture and allied activities on farmers' fields to showcase their potential and encourage adoption.
3. Training and Extension Activities: Training programs are organized for farmers, farm women, and extension personnel to impart practical knowledge and skills. Self financed training for pesticide and fertilizer dealers of the district for renewal of their license are also conducted by KVK Morigaon.
4. Production and Dissemination of Inputs: Production of quality seeds, planting material and livestock strains and make it available to farmers
5. Advisory Services: Farm Advisory Service using ICT and other media means on varied subjects of interest to farmers.
6. Entrepreneurship Development: Training and support to the unemployed farm youth and women to take up agro-based enterprises for self-employment.
